About the Museum of Natural History     

Founded in 1916, the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History boasts a collection of over 3.5 million specimens displayed in a variety of state-of-the-art interactive exhibits. The museum also includes the Central Coast’s only planetarium and the Sea Center, located on Stearns Wharf.

As part of the Museum of Natural History, the Sea Center highlights the diverse marine wildlife living in the Santa Barbara Channel. The Center’s highly interactive exhibits and special programming offer visitors ample opportunities to explore. Touch tanks give guests a chance to get up-close-and-personal with the animals. While the Channel Theater features floating jellies and a captivating octopus. The Sea Center is open daily 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

 

Shark Sundays at Sea Center

Throughout the year, the Sea Center hosts several themed days for visitors, like Shark Sundays. On Sundays at the Sea Center from 3:30 p.m. – 4 p.m., guests can help feed the sharks and rays at Shark Cove. You’ll have the chance to learn about shark biology from the Center’s experts, then assist in feeding. The best part? This program is included in Sea Center admission.
