Zoo-a-Palooza at the Santa Barbara Zoo

If you’re in Santa Barbara with the kids this June, you’re in luck! On June 14, the Santa Barbara Zoo kicks off its first annual Zoo-a-Palooza. From 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., your little ones can enjoy science experiments, a rock climbing wall, bounce house, crafts and more. For more details about Zoo-a-Palooza, read below.

All About Zoo-a-Palooza

This June 14, the Santa Barbara Zoo will host its first annual Zoo-a-Palooza from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. In short: It’s a giant family-friendly party that encourages kids to (1) learn more about the zoo and (2) have fun. Make sure to introduce the little ones to Chase and Skye from Paw Patrol and take lots of pictures. DJ Hecktik will play all sorts of wild songs throughout the evening. Interactive learning opportunities include science experiments and a variety of hands-on crafts. Fun fact: The Santa Barbara Zoo is a Certified Autism Center. So, if you have kiddos that need a quieter setting to have fun, head to the zoo’s designated quiet area with activities and sensory backpacks (includes noise-canceling headphones) for rent. Admission for Zoo-a-Palooza is $20 for adults and $14 for children. Buy your tickets online here.

More About the Santa Barbara Zoo

There’s always something happening at The Santa Barbara Zoo. And that shouldn’t be a surprise, with the zoo being home to over 100 species (500+ animals) exhibited in open habitats! Visit the zoo and explore the exhibits any day, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Or, schedule a behind-the-scenes tour to get a closer look at the animals and some of the zookeepers’ everyday tasks. Visit the Animal Kitchen to see how the zookeepers prepare food for their 500+ animals. Let the little ones hide in a dinosaur egg or slide down an ant hill at the Kallman Family Play Area. Take a ride on the Zoo Train, feed a giraffe or two, or scale the Climbing Wall. For a list of upcoming events happening at the zoo, take a look at the Santa Barbara Zoo event calendar.
